Silence

That's all there was in the large stone house at the moment. That's all there usually was except for the occasional priestess barking orders, the crack of a whip those same priestesses wore at their belts, or the noise that the various denizens caused as they walked through the cold stone hallways.

A small, ebony skinned, red eyed child peeked around the corner warily. He was late for his 'lesson' with his sister. Though it mostly consisted of her teaching him his place in drow society as a male. Which mostly meant doing various tasks for his sister, a priestess of Lolth. Though if he did anything wrong he recieved the 'proper punishment' which, if you haven't guessed, is the use of that snake headed whip.

After making sure that his sister was nowhere in sight, the boy crept out into the hallway, nervously jumping at every sound and quickly checking his surroundings before moving on.

He crept on like this for a little while, looking for a safe haven before his sister could find him. That's when a blow from behind knocked the boy flat onto his stomach. "You're late again." said his sister in a cold voice that would have chilled the bones of even the fiercest matron mother.

The boy looked up over his shoulder at his sister. He knew he was a drow and shouldn't have been scared. But many drow often moved out of Mathra's way as quickly as possible. "Sorry?" The boy said in a vain attempt to appease her. She only scowled and pulled the whip from her belt, the snake heads writhing in anticipation.

The blood drained from the boy's face and he buried his face into his arms, arching his back to accept his punishment as he'd been taught. Blow after blow fell, striking the boy each time and each time the boy cried out for the death of a fairy or surface elf as he'd been taught to do. When Mathra returned the whip to her belt the boy raised his head, his body stiff. "Come." was all Mathra said as she walked away and the boy obediently followed, not wishing for another strike of the whip.

Ok, I put my pencil on the paper and this is what came out. Not exactly what I expected since I didn't plan it out. I think next time I'll try to write something humorous if I'm capable

lol, thanks I'm glad you like it. As for Wizards of the Coast you can find the Dark Elf Trilogy in the library. As far as I know they hire authors to write series of books.

Thanks Steve. Who knows, perhaps one day I'll write a piece with your character in it. I'm joking, only if you want me too. Even then I'd have to read a Redwall book or two to get a feel for the world he's in.

Ooh, I like this!!

Write more, please. I wanna know what happens next. You should pet your pencil to paper more often, and post what comes out.

Thanks. ^_^ Yeah I think I will continue this story. Well, it's kind of inevitable really since this is an insight into the childhood of one of my characters.
